EVERY DAY A BIRD LEARNS HOW TO FLY
An awkward relationship develops between a teenager and a young married woman. Jimmy, a clean-cut teenager in 1958 and Carol, a very religious young married woman are entangled in a tender and sometimes humorous relationship as their lives collide unexpectedly into an unexpected attraction to each other. Jimmy finds something fresh and beautiful in Carol, a religious young woman who wears a mysterious gold chain around her neck that intrigues him. And Carol discovers that Jimmy’s positive outlook on life and sensitive nature fulfills a need for love in her life. Both try to break free of this unlikely and forbidden attraction to each other and also must struggle with a blackmailer’s threats. Jimmy immerses himself in his history books and Carol goes to church to seek guidance and even distracts herself by volunteering to do work for a neighbor she doesn’t even like, but none of those strategies seems to work too well to quell this attraction. Trouble is definitely brewing for both. Something’s got to be done before the town folk, friends, family and Carol’s husband figure out what’s going on, especially when a blackmailer threatens to expose it all.
