GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTENFriends I Made Through Conifers
by Robert L. Fincham
Since I began conifer collecting as one generation was passing and another was assuming their mantle, I thought that some of the newer conifer collecting enthusiasts might enjoy sharing some of my experiences with friends who are no longer with us but who have influenced all who deal with unusual conifers. I have shown most of them in my cover picture. Many of my readers may have met one or more of the people about whom I have written. If so, I hope I can recall some pleasant memories. I have included descriptions and pictures of many of their plant introductions. This is a book about people and plants. I have shared some of my experiences with and have given a few insights into these people. Years from now I will enjoy rereading this book and fondly remember all my friends who can no longer share conifers with me. There are 301 color pictures and 34 persons described in this book. A section on the known cultivars of Fagus sylvatica is found in an appendix at the back of the book. I also devoted an appendix to a very special village in Holland named Boskoop.
