As a High School Math Teacher, I've often been told that I am not at all typical. I love to paint, play the piano, sing, and write. I will do math to earn my keep, but I have always been more artistic than analytical.
When I was in college I got serious about writing, and did a lot of random writing in multiple genres - Mostly romance, but with a significant amount of historical romance, science fiction, and fantasy thrown in.
Real life got in the way, and I ended up putting aside my writing for some time. I did express my need to create by writing textbooks for my two math classes, but I never got them formally published, even though one of the textbooks was all the way into its sixth edition and included a companion work book and a teacher edition. I also did some work for American Bookworks and co-authored a few different non-fiction titles. While I was proud of my many creations, the Holy Grail for me was writing and publishing my own fiction. A Novel. I had a fantasy short story solicited and accepted for a fan-fiction magazine, but I still had the desire to write a novel!
