Richard Small is a husband, father of four and grandfather of five. His working career was spent in the world of business as an entrepreneur from which he retired in 2014. While trying to stay busy and find something new to do, he took a Portland Community College writing course from popular teacher and author Steve Alcorn. For one assignment, he wrote a story about an experience one of his sons had with bullying in grade school. Research opened his eyes to how prevalent and awful bullying is and the VERITAS series was born on trying to answer the question, “What would a really good person who had been bullied do if he (or she) became more powerful than the bully?”
Richard and his wife have an apartment in Tigard, a suburb of Portland, Oregon. All four sons and their families live within five miles, so they often have the joy of breathing common air with them and waving goodbye on the porch (read the books to find out what that means).
