That’s no comet...
A flaming streak across the dark sky... Traveling faster than light and on a collision course with a nearby star... Ratoun Tesbar was on a mining survey run when the call came out. Kutak Karan was a dead system, other than a mining station harvesting from the debris left behind by colliding proto planets. Ratoun’s little ship was the only one that could intercept the incoming object before it got too close to the system’s star. The stakes were clear, as only a vessel could travel that fast. When Ratoun saw that it was a damaged Vectan warship, the implications were even larger. The Vectan Republic had been at peace for nearly two thousand years. If one of their strongest ships had been nearly destroyed and flew off out of control, the whole Republic must be in terrible danger. The first mission was to save this ship, but certainly that job was just the beginning. |
