THE SEPA PROJECTTHE SEPA SERIES - BOOK 1
by J. Moody
In the near distant future, the world as we know it ceases to exist. Separated by a dome, society is broken into two groups. Those considered prosperous live within New Bhutan’s utopia and those less fortunate are forced to fend for themselves in the barren desert of the Banjar. The Family rules New Bhutan and trades with the Banjar through their Sepas, a group of go-betweens who provide clean water for the Banjar in exchange for Old World goods.
The Banjarians welcome the Sepas into their communities as water bringings, unaware that they are also spies. Sepas are equipped with memory modifications that allow them to record everything they see in perfect detail and deliver those memories to the Family upon their return. On Sepa 288’s eleventh mission, she watches a child she loves die of the Banjarguay, a deadly disease that rides on the Banjarian winds. But every Sepa mission is emptied from their memories for study, and she knows she will have no recollection of her friend, or her rage, by morning. All that changes when her mentor, Meera San, asks her to spy on the Family themselves. She sends her on a secret mission to discover why members of New Bhutan society are disappearing overnight, never to be seen again. The deal? If 288 accepts the mission, she gets to retain her memories. If she succeeds…if she returns at all. This sets her on a treacherous path where she will fight to unravel the dark secrets of New Bhutan and uncover the truth of her world, her rulers, and herself. Failure to do so will result in losing more than her memories this time, or even just her life. Many, many lives are now in her hands. |
